Department of Real Estate
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
REAL ESTATE PRACTICE is required and one more class: Appraisal, Finance, Law, Property Management, Economics, or Office Administration. Many Real Estate Schools offer these courses on-line or for home study. **(As of 10/1/07 there are no longer conditional licenses. R.E. Principles, R.E. Practice and 1 more course are required PRIOR to taking the original licensing exam. The renewal will be the 1st time 4 year.

1st Time 4-year Renewal: (Agents only)
You must take the 15 Hr. Mandated Course that includes: Agency, Ethics, Fair Housing, Trust Funds & Risk Management (A/E/FH/TF). You can choose a web-site from the list below and purchase the on-line study course, then take the exams on line.

4 Year License Renewal (Agents AFTER 1st time & all Brokers)
This includes the 15 Hr. Mandated courses from above (A/E/FH/TF & Risk Management) and additional courses to total 45 Hrs. (DRE credits). You can choose a web-site below to purchase an on-line study course, and then take the exams on-line.

Please note: Licensees are solely responsible for sending education information to the Dept. of Real Estate for all renewals. Once a license has expired, the agent may not do any real estate business until it is reactivated with the DRE. Allow 4-6weeks lead time when mailing to the DRE. On-line renewal is suggested. You may obtain and mail forms to DRE or renew on-line at www.dre.ca.gov. Go to Licensing, then renewals.
